I’ve never met Norine Stice. Never. But still the news of her passing have shaken me to my core. Norine Stice was an Angel on earth, she truly was. I honestly never thought that somebody i never ever met could have such a profound influence on my career and my life. But she did. She changed the way i looked at this business, for the better and she honestly helped me grow into the performer i am today.
She believed in Independent Wreslting so much. In a time when nobody gave a dime about me here in my own country, Norine did. All the way across an ocean, in a different language, she did. She cared. She believed i could be someone in this business. She believed before anyone did that i could write my own column, Me. Write. She believed i could share my thoughts about being a Latin American wrestler to the world. She thought that by writing a column called “Lucha Lessons”, by writing my experiences down, that it would help other Latin American wrestlers out there trying, like me, to someday make it. This was Norine Stice. She had a love and a passion for wrestling and for Independent wrestling i honestly never ever seen before. She cared about every single tiny promotion, every single unknown wrestler. It was her mission to give us the exposure she felt we deserved.
Norine was my friend. I’ve never ever met her, but she was my friend. We used to chat until all hours of the night about my career and the things she thought i could do to get better. We use to chat about her pets and the causes she championed outside of wrestling. Whenever i had a match on tape i made sure to upload it so she could see it. He feedback was truly invaluable for my and she was never mean, she was always objective and i trusted her wisdom completely. When i won my first and only title wrestling for WAR Ecuador, she was one of the first to know it. It made her so proud. God i can’t even begin to comprehend what her loss will mean for those close to her.
Norine Stice was my friend. My confidant. My Wrestling advisor and my champion. I’ve never ever met Norine Stice. Never. And that’s my loss. I honestly never thought that somebody i never ever met could have such a profound influence on my career and my life. But she did. She changed the way i looked at this business, for the better and she honestly helped me grow into the performer i am today.
Thank you for everything you did for me Norine.
Thank you for helping Panamenian wrestling and Independent wrestling over all.
Thank you for caring so much when you didn’t have to.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and those who had the pleasure of meeting her.
I will miss you my dear friend.
